The name “Namib” is of Nama origin and means “vast place”. Indeed, Namibia occupies an area of 825,615 km² and contains the oldest desert in the world (4,976,800ha). The Namib Naukluft Park is the largest game reserve in Africa and the fourth largest in the world, while other attractions include the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei, the Sesriem Canyon, and the Tsaucab River whose bed has uncovered millions of years of geological history.
